One thing we all need in life is to have open doors to go through, otherwise, we very quickly come to a standstill and fail to get to where we want to go.
However, I’ve also learned that some doors are not meant to be opened and if we somehow manage to gain access through our own efforts we will usually have to keep striving and exhausting ourselves to keep that door open. If it’s not the right place, person or pursuit then there will never be rest on what we have achieved in our own efforts and we’ll have to fight to keep it in our life.
God however says that when He opens doors then no one will be able to shut them and that He also shuts doors that no one will be able to open. He wants us to trust Him to open the right doors; that right relationship, connection, opportunity, and provision.
“Then I will set the key of the house of David on his shoulder, When he opens no one will shut, When he shuts no one will open.” (Isaiah 22:22)
I’ve discovered that no amount of hard work, striving, and pushing will cause a door not meant for us to open and stay open. I can do the work to prepare and position myself to act when God leads, but when doors aren’t opening no matter what I do, wisdom says to hold steady, look for another route or step back and ask God what and where He is moving and choose to follow his lead.
Paul in the Bible travelled into some pretty hostile situations, but he understood this concept of open doors and the importance of trusting God’s timing and direction. He said, “for a wide door for effective service has opened to me..." (1 Cor 16:19)
As you consider the next steps in your journey, I encourage you to look for open doors. Jesus says His way is light and easy and the doors He opens are doors no man can shut so trust him to lead you because He holds the keys to every door you are meant to go through in your life.
Then as you step forward you can relax knowing that God is the one with the keys and has promised to bless the path before you and all the work of your hands.
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Matthew 11:30 NIV)
“You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.” (Duet 28”6)
“Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” (Proverbs 16:3)
Prayer: Lord thank you that you open doors that no man can shut and have a way forward for me. Please help me to watch and listen to your leading and to trust you to make a way for me today. Thank you for open doors. In Jesus name Amen.
