23 Oct - God Is Kind

I heard a statement today that made me stop and think. It was, “God is kind. He is kinder than what we are comfortable with.”

When you choose to make him part of your world and life he promises to crown you with glory and honour and to give you preferential treatment. That means you can walk in expectation of good things happening in your life.

God’s kindness and his desire to pour it out upon your life dictates that he won’t withhold any good things from you. (Psalm 84:11)

We are an object of God’s affection, and He is for us and not against us as perhaps many people might think. ‘If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?"(Romans 8:31)

When you start looking through the bible you will see the word kindness popping up everywhere. It’s who God is and how he expresses himself to us.

Psalm 119: 76 says “May your unfailing love be my comfort, according to your promise to your servant.”

The word “love” is this passage has been translated from “chesed.” Meaning acts of merciful loving-kindness. God’s chesed is unfailing. It isn’t based on our ability to reciprocate and is powerful. But it does change us, redeem us, make us whole, and give us new life.

“But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy (Titus 3:4)

It’s God’s kindness that leads us back to repentance and it’s how he softens and guides our hearts back to him. "His kindness is guiding our hearts to turn away from distractions and habitual sin to walk a new path” (Romans 2:4 Voice translation)

I encourage you to look for and study out God’s kindness towards you, for as you do you will find Him in a deeper way and discover just how good and kind He is. Jesus is the best place to start. His loving-kindness towards us chose to carry the weight of our sin and it's consequence being death, for us so that we could be set free.

"And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus." (Ephesians 2: 6-7)

Allow yourself to experience and accept God’s loving kindness towards you today, and open your life to both his presence and blessings. As you do God’s kindness will restore, heal and transform you, causing your heart to bear the fruit of knowing and becoming more like him, Whoever pursues righteousness and kindness will find life, righteousness, and honour” (Proverbs 21:21)

“But the fruit of the Spirits is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law” Galatians 5:22-23.

“The Lord bless you and keep you (protect you, sustain you, and guard you) The Lord make His face shine upon you with favour. And be gracious to you, surrounding you with lovingkindness; The Lord lift up His face upon you with divine approval and give you a tranquil heart and life." (Numbers 6:24-26 Amp)

Prayer: Lord thank you for your great kindness and love towards me. I ask that you help me to receive your kindness into my heart today so that any hurts will be healed, and I will be made whole, so I can also be kind like you. In Jesus name Amen
