24th Sept -The Devil Works in the Hurry: Finding a Better Way

Updated: Sep 25

Life doesn’t have to feel out of control. Jesus offers a better way - a rhythm of grace that brings peace and fruitfulness.

My mum always tells me, “The devil works in the hurry, scurry, and flurry of life.” and I think she's right, because often that’s exactly where burnout, anxiety and an inability to rest can start to take root in our lives.

The world's system loves chaos. It feeds on pressure, rush, and the kind of stress that keeps you spinning. But Jesus? He offers a whole new rhythm. He says:

“Walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” (Matthew 11:29 MSG)

His pace isn’t frantic and chaotic. It’s free. It’s light. It’s steady, and the more time you spend with Him, and learning His ways, the more you realise life doesn’t have to be rushed or full of stress. His rhythm isn’t forced - and I think it's a better way to live. His way flows and there's peace even in the midst of busyness.

With Jesus, you can still be productive and make an impact, but without all the extra drama and stress. You actually get things done in a way that is healthy and lasting.

“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in You, all whose thoughts are fixed on You.” (Isaiah 26:3 NLT)

Fix Your Focus On Jesus

Part of finding a better way means living with intentionality. Think of it like being on a paddleboard out on the water - if you’re focused and remain calm and steady, you glide forward. But the moment you start looking around at every wave, or at what someone else is doing nearby, you can lose your balance. Life is the same. Other people’s noise, emotions, or the world around us can rock us if we let it.

That’s why it really helps to fix our eyes firmly on Jesus and move at His rhythm. When you do, you stay steady, balanced, and free to actually enjoy the ride instead of falling into the swirl around you. Plus everything seems to work better in your day; doors open, opportunities come, and instead of wasting energy on negativity or striving, you can use it to create, grow, and focus on what you can change and impact in a healthy way.

Today, your life may feel out of control, but it doesn’t have to. With Jesus, and His rhythm, it can be both peaceful and fruitful.

Action Step: Before you get into your day; pause and pray:"Jesus, please set my rythum, and show me your way today."

💭 Think and Say: “My life moves to Jesus' rythum, not all the "noise" and demands of my day” - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"  (Philippians 4:13 NKJV)

📖 Bible Verse:“Walk with me… Learn the unforced rhythms of grace.” (Matthew 11:29 MSG)

Prayer: Jesus, I don’t want to live at the pace of pressure and hurry. Please teach me to walk in Your rhythm of grace and help me to let go of striving and stress, and instead move with Your steady, peaceful flow. In Jesus' name Amen.
