I was chatting with my clever husband, who, amongst other things, is very good at encouraging and strategizing with people to achieve success and reach their goals.
Thinking creatively and having new ideas are so important to who we are and when we allow ourselves to think creatively, it inspires ideas, and those ideas inspire change and lead us to success and our best life.
My hubby Philip wrote down some things I'd like to share on moving forward with an idea.
Make A Smart Goal – what is your aim? Smart goals are:
Specific, Measured, Achievable, realistic, and timed. (see Philip's blog here https://philkinney.org/2014/07/15/are-you-smart/)
Write your goal down – make it plain and simple to understand. The Bible says to "write the vision and make it plain that they who see it might run with it" (Habakkuk 2:2), Meaning that the vision or idea is simple to read and easy for everyone to move on and quickly grasp hold of so that they get involved.
Reality – where am I now: the positives and the negatives. What have you got in your hand and around you that can help you achieve your goal and dreams.
A key in this stage to to share your goal with others: Don't lay out everything important to you in front of just anyone, but people who have the same heart and whom you already have or can build a strong connection with will also help you see what's possible and also be willing to help and encourage you.
Options: Think blue sky, as in the sky is the limit, and there are many possibilities. Let yourself dream and imagine. We are capable of far more than we usually give ourselves credit for.
What's Next: Choose an option or two, and put a strategy in place to make it happen. God's wisdom and the direction and leading of the Holy Spirit are important at this stage. Let Him lead, help gather others, bring provision into your hands, and reveal the easiest way to achieve your goal.
Pray, seek God and a green light from Him to proceed. That usually means having an "inner witness" or peace in our spirits that this is a "God idea" and not just a good idea. It's also knowing inside us (even if we feel initially unsure) that we are to run with it.
Be encouraged next time you have an idea to give it time to percolate and settle in your heart. Then talk to God about it, plan a strategy with Him, follow His directions, share it with others, and go for it.
Everything begins with an idea, but remember, one God idea is worth more than a thousand good ideas. So today, I encourage you to take some time to examine all the things you have been thinking about and whether some of those ideas are, in fact, God ideas, that he has planted in your life for you to go and make them happen.
"Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans". (Proverbs 16:3)
"When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears, he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come." (John 16:13)
Prayer: Lord, please help me focus and spend my time, energy, and creativity on "God ideas" that will have the greatest impact and bring the most joy and fulfillment to my life and those around me. In Jesus' name Amen
