1 Mar – You Are His Cause

This week I was talking with some people and the conversation turned to what would you do to change things in the world. What would you do if you could do something?

I was thinking about that as I believe that God’s does create each one of us with a purpose and destiny and it’s these things that he places in our hearts and writes within His story. That we all can have some cause which inspires, motivates and encourages us to step out of our comfort zone and to make a difference in the world. To be counter culture as Jesus was if we need be.

Yet I have been realising that the biggest cause God has is us. We are his cause, the reason for it all. For all the old testament laws, teachings and plans, for Jesus coming, for his life, ministry and crucifixion. For his resurrection, for the church and for the plan of salvation going into operation to redeem mankind.

We are God’s cause and I’m wondering that if we are God’s cause shouldn’t that make it that I am to be my first cause too. That if God thinks I am important enough to go to all that trouble over, that I might want to make the effort and put priority into loving and honouring me too. That I am in a sense MY cause.

Because as we acknowledge that we are worth being a cause for, then we will love and care for ourselves in a greater way, and then we will love others out of that love too.

As the Word says,” Love your neighbour as you love yourself. “(Mark 12:31)

The problem is I think a lot of us don’t actually love ourselves very much, so how on earth can we ever properly love others whole heartedly, healthily and with the right attitudes and motives.

If God, the creator of the universe saw fit to make you HIS cause – the reason for all the fuss, the reason all of heaven got and still gets involved, then perhaps today you should get in agreement with His heart and plans and make YOU, your cause too.

For we are God’s masterpiece”. (Ephesians 2:10)

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” (Psalm 139:13-14)

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

Prayer: Lord thank you for taking the effort over me because I’m worth it and you value me.  Please help me to value myself like you do today. In Jesus name Amen.

We are God’s greatest cause
