10 Sept – Make A Move

How often do we put off what we are thinking or dreaming about because we are waiting for the perfect time or for everything to be exactly how we want it?

The problem with waiting to move on the things we have in our hearts and minds is that we can get stuck. Stuck waiting, stuck paralysed by the fear of failure, stuck watching to see if everything lines up how we want it to and stuck putting our dreams on hold over and over again.

I wonder how much of our anxiety and frustration in life could be attributed to our inaction and procrastination. We know God is calling us to move on certain things in our lives and yet we don’t, which leaves us feeling out of sync with who and what we are created to be.

A sobering illustration of waht can happen when we allow ourselves to remain stuck is Moses and the Israelites. When they were told to move forward and to take the land God had led them to the majority found themselves stuck in their own fear of failure, comparisons and poor self worth. Instead of listening to God they chose to rebel and even plotted against those who were brave enough to want to act. This resulted in a whole generation perishing and failing to enter into the life God had planned for them. The point being, when God says move and we’re prompted to step forward in some way we’d be wise to take heed and do exactly that!

Rather than finding ourselves stuck or pushing those inner promptings aside we choose to act and to regularly assess where we can move now, rather than putting things off? What can we put into motion today? Where can we change some things up, push through some barriers and be solution focused, rather than problem focused.

God doesn’t want us to become stuck and feel like we can’t move forward in life. He designed us for growth, increase and expansion. He only ever asks us to wait so that we can draw closer to Him, gain daily insight and guidance and to give opportunity for us to reflect, refocus and refuel in His presence.

Don’t put off what you could be moving forward on today. You were made for increase. Take the time to examine your heart and seek God as to what new ground He has for you to take today.

But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:12-24)

“Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you.” (Proverbs 4:25)

The Lord our God said to us in Horeb, ‘You have stayed long enough at this mountain.” (1 Deuteronomy 1:6)

Prayer: Lord would you show me where I can make a move forward today. I don’t want to ever get stuck in complacency, fear or inaction, so please reveal to me any stumbling blocks in my heart and thinking and open the way for me to step forward. In Jesus name Amen.
