12 May – Finding Peace

3a47542c856378573a6a803e06b1ae84

I took some much needed time to simply sit with Jesus today; no agenda’s, no demands. Just me and Him in the quiet.

In the midst of my quietness Jesus spoke and reminded me that, “He will keep in perfect peace, those whose minds are stayed on Him….He is a God who does what is right, and smooths out the path ahead of us.” (Isaiah 26:3,6)

When we take the time with Him, God will speak and calm all our fears, lift our burdens and bring His peace. Instead of looking at all the problems and challenges ahead of me I was reminded today that He is a loving God, who cares infinitely about every detail of our lives. When we keep our minds and hearts fixed on Him our whole being will be kept in perfect and constant peace. Peace being; “a freedom from disturbance, and having quiet, tranquillity, and rest.”

When we fix our focus on God we choose to centre our thoughts on His goodness, on what He says, on who He is and on His promises. When we do that we will be far more inclined to activate our faith to believe God to move things on our behalf and to smooth out any crooked places in our lives and future…..”He smooths out the path ahead of us”. (Isaiah 26:6)

The Bible says, “Finally, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things..and the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4: 8-9)

Today check what you have been fixing your focus on. Is it thoughts of hope or thoughts of fear, negativity and disaster? If you have been struggling, take time throughout the day with Jesus and read His words in the bible. Put those promises that especially speak to you where you can see them so you can be reminded throughout the day of what is true.  For He promises that, “He will keep us in perfect peace when our minds are fixed on Him.”

Jesus said, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (John 8:31-32)

Prayer: Lord thank you that I can find peace in you and that you make my path smooth before me today.  In Jesus Name Amen.
