13 Mar – Keep standing and don’t you dare give up!

Sometimes we just have to stand up and get feisty, especially if we are facing evil, difficult situations, and anyone or thing that acts or sounds contrary to what God says about your life and future. Instead of allowing ourselves to slide into a pit of despond, its in these moments that we have the opportunity to put our faith to work, to pull it together and to stand firm. Primarily because we are usually much stronger than we give ourselves credit for, and with Jesus strengthening us we will see the victory. Plus the alternative is that we risk going into a “big hole” which we will then have to pull ourselves out of again anyway.

Sometimes “pulling it together” means getting some help, talking to someone about how we feel, asking for people you trust to pray with you for a breakthrough, and if necessary getting some professional help. It means going to God and casting our cares and burdens upon Him and listening to what He says. It’s searching out His Word for the answers and then holding onto and declaring those promises. It means choosing to stand, to remain resolute and to just keep standing until the breakthrough comes.

The bible says repeatedly to, “Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7 NLT)

Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” (Ephesians 6:13)

“Give all your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.”(Psalm 55:22 NLT)

It’s when we are feeling the most vulnerable and under pressure that we must not let go of our self restraint, faith and trust in God and allow ourselves to mope oWe may need to get feisty, to stop feeling sorry for ourselves, quit thinking we are the only ones going through a rough time and start looking at the positives, the possibilities, and what we do have available and in our hands to use and move forward with.

God cares, He actually does know what we are going through, and He has promised that He will be with us through it all. He never said it was going to always be smooth sailing, but that in actual fact we would face trials, tribulations, and things in which we must persevere through. He encourages us when we are facing difficulties to not “lose it” but instead to continue to use our faith, His word, and our trust in Him to stand, and when we’ve done all else to just keep standing, for we will overcome if we do not give up.

Plus when we remain steadfast and keep speaking God’s word, angels are able to go to work on our behalf, and Jesus says that He Himself is the High Priest of our confession. This means when we speak and believe in agreement with the bible, Jesus is authorised to administer and carry out on our behalf of the words that we say. (Hebrews 3:1) However He is not responsible over our confessions in the midst of our hissy fits, negativity or faithless words, for He is High priest over deliverance, righteousness, and freedom – over our faith filled words.

Today, give Jesus and the angels something to work with in your confession. Go back to the basics if need be and remind yourself of who Jesus is, what He has promised and who you are in Him. Remember what is actually important in life; count your blessings, get some perspective, stand your ground against evil, get feisty if need be, don’t you dare give up,  and go out there to live and fight another day.

“Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again – may Saviour and my God!” (Psalm 43:5NLT)

Therefore put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.”(Ephesians 6:13)

“Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity.” (Proverbs 21:23)

Prayer: Lord please help me when I am finding it difficult. Set a guard over my mouth so that I would not speak those things that aren’t of any benefit, especially in regard to who I am and my future. I choose to believe what you say about my life in your word, about who I am, where I’m going, and that together you and I always have a plan, a hope and a future. In Jesus name Amen.
