It’s a massive responsibility that we’ve been given to choose how our life will play out, yet we get to choose every day. Every move we make, every word we speak, every incline of our heart and every reflection of our thoughts, we get to choose it all.
And in amongst all that choosing, God’s voice whispers, “You can do things your way – I’ve given you free will to do that, but I do know a better way. A way where the dreams and desires in your heart I will fulfil in a way that you couldn’t even imagine. Where, as you walk in forgiveness, you will gain the freedom and peace that you so often crave.”
“It’s a way where you walk away from temptation and know My grace to sustain and strengthen you as you do. It’s a way where you often are asked to remain silent even when feeling slammed by those around you. But I am God, and I will always have the last word. A way where you learn that I will protect, guide, provide and care for you if you would only trust and walk in My ways.”
And then God leaves us with the decision – Our way or His.
But as I often discovered, “how does my way work out for me anyway?” Because many are the occasions, I try to do things my way and end up stressed, frustrated, disappointed and often angry at the world and everyone in it.
So I’m learning to choose His way and His will over mine.
I choose His way when I forgive when people are hurtful because that is the better way; to deal with my hurts and to remain hopeful even when discouragement pulls hard to tempt me to give in. I choose His way when I remain silent rather than give people a piece of my mind about something I’m unimpressed with.
I choose to look ahead, forget the former things, let go of the past, and choose His will and His way over mine. I seek to choose Jesus every day, to expect great things and for Him to do whatever He wants to do in my life because His way and His will for me is always going to be better. I choose to keep on learning to trust Him and to let His Kingdom come in my heart.
I encourage you to choose Jesus and His way for you. It doesn’t mean it’ll always be smooth sailing, but you will stay afloat, you will reach your destination, and you will have a life that far surpasses anything you can imagine or achieve on your own.
Choose Jesus and you’ll be choosing life today.
“Who is the man who fears the Lord? He will instruct him in the way he should choose.” (Psalm 25:12)
“I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order you may live, you and your descendants.” (Deuteronomy 30:19)
Prayer: Lord, please help me let go and allow you into all the places in my heart. I want you to rule and reign in my life, so I choose your will and your way today. In Jesus name Amen.
