We have a saying in our house about agreement in that it means to be in unity or harmony with another. If one of us is complaining or speaking words of unbelief, sickness, fear, lack or negativity we will ask of one another, “Do you really want me to agree with you on that?” It can be really annoying if we just want to blurt out what we are thinking, but the thought that someone is coming into agreement with what you are saying does make you check your mouth and the words coming out of it.
Jesus said, “Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.” (Matthew 18:19-20)
Agreement is powerful. When we agree together in faith we see God move, because we are getting into agreement with what God and His word says, and we know that He is faithful to His Word. But when we agree over negative, fear filled things we then run the risk of getting into agreement with what the devil is saying and doing, and that only brings trouble.
When Adam and Eve were first in the Garden of Eden they were given dominion over the planet. The devil had no authority, and the only way he could gain any was to get someone to agree with him in opposition to God, thus empowering Him. When Adam and Eve listened to the devil and his lies they subsequently empowered him to kill, rob and destroy from mankind.
These efforts by the devil to get mankind into agreement with him have not stopped. Every time we listen to his lies (and he is the Father of lies); every time we repeat, dwell on, act upon and get into fear over what the devil is saying and doing rather than believing what God has promised and said about our life and future we run the risk of empowering the devil to be able to act in our lives. He wants our agreement – our words because he knows their power, and sadly we far too often fall for his tricks and deception and give it to Him and then wonder why things aren’t working out for us.
Today I encourage you to stop the devil in his tracks and to start to examine what and whom you are agreeing will happen in your life; in your relationships, family, job, health and future? Because God wants us to agree and work together with Him to bring heaven to earth, and to see every blessing come to pass in our lives.
God cautions us to be mindful not to get into agreement with the devil.
When you come to Jesus and ask Him to forgive you of your sins and to be part of your life he says you have a clean slate, are a new creation and that the past is gone. He says that you are an overcomer and holy, pure and righteous before God. He says that you have a hope and a future and that you have been born to rule over the powers of darkness and to plunder hell and establish the rule of Jesus wherever you go by sharing the good news about Jesus and His kingdom.
If today you are tired of being stolen from; have been living in fear and doubt, or are burdened by your past, then choose to stop getting into agreement with anyone or anything else except what God and His Word says about you.
‘Make a decision to stop listening to lies and instead choose to agree with God’s plan and truth about your circumstances. Then you’ll see how your life will change for the better and that’s something worth agreeing with!
Prayer: Lord please help me to see where I have been agreeing with the wrong things and voices, and help me to start to agree only with what you say about my life and future. I choose to agree with you today. In Jesus name Amen.
