Those words, “its all going to be okay” are what many of us need to hear on a regular if not daily basis. Because sometimes lets face it, we all feel like things are not in any way, shape or form okay!
The night we heard that my younger brother Shaun’s plane had not arrived at its destination and was missing was probably one of the worst nights of our families lives. We sat waiting and waiting, answering phone calls and praying and hoping that we would hear some good news. In the midst of this time I heard God’s quiet still voice say something to me. He said “its going to be okay. It’ll be really hard for a while, but you’re going to be okay.” Shortly afterwards we got the call to hear that Shauns plane had crashed and there were no survivors.
It was really hard. Incredibly painful, difficult and all the other things that come with someone dying, let alone dying far too young, just as God had said it would be. But I was also okay, and as time passed I realised I’d gotten stronger, more compassionate and understanding, and I also knew myself and God in ways I hadn’t before.
I discovered that even in the midst of really hard times God is there. We may not understand why or what is going on at the time but that’s not really what we need focus on – sometimes there is no easy answer to why things happen . What’s important in the middle of things is that we understand we are not alone and that regardless of how we feel or what it looks like God does care about us, and we are going to be okay.
Today whatever sort of day you are facing, know you are never alone because God is with you, and He cares. Keep looking at, and walking with Him and you will be okay. You may have a few bumps and bruises, and faith muscles you didn’t have before, but you will be okay.
“Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
Prayer: Lord thank you that you care about me and that you will never leave me to handle life’s circumstances alone. Help me to remember that today. In Jesus name Amen
