The word declare in the Bible comes from the Hebrew word “achvah”, meaning “to make known”.
To us spiritually, declarations are what we speak to make known what we already have possession of because of what Jesus has done for us at the cross.
“A decree is “a statement of truth that carries the authority of a court order”. When we decree in the spiritual realm, it causes the truths of the heavenly realm to be manifest into the natural realms so that they become our daily reality.” (Elizabeth Nixon)
Jesus taught us how to degree when he taught us how to pray in Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
When we decree, we are stating the will and purposes of God on earth so that His will, revealed in His word, comes to pass.
Decrees essentially bring heaven to earth, which is why it’s so important for us to familiarise ourselves with what God says in His word and speak that rather than filling our lives with the latest news report, outbreak of disease or bad news story.
Whatever we may face in life, we can find out what God says about it and then speak and decree his truth. We can decree healing when facing sickness, provision and abundant blessing when we are lacking, and peace when there is strife.
God’s words in the Bible are God’s will and testament, so if our life doesn’t match what God says about our life, those facts have to give way to the truth, and the truth is God’s word and what He has decreed.
When we decree, God’s promises, then anything purposed against us has to make way for the truth.
With Jesus as part of your life, you are no longer bound by the facts of this world, when they don't line up with the truth of what God says about your life and future. Jesus said, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” (John 8:31-32)
“If you abide in me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. By this, My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be my disciples.” (John 15:7)
Today prayerfully consider what you are speaking and decreeing over your life; over your relationships, health, finances and future and then start to speak and declare what God says and then start to see His best come to pass in your life.
Prayer: Lord, please help me be more aware of what I am speaking and choose wisely what I am decreeing. I choose to speak health, provision, blessing and your goodness over my life and city today. In Jesus Name. Amen.
