Sometimes I think we get so used to our lives being busy or full of hard work we don”t expect or seek after the fact that God wants anything else for us.
We can easily get stuck in the grind and forget that God actually wants us to enjoy life too. Yes we have a purpose, which will require discipline and persistence to fulfill, but in the midst of all our doings God still desires we have fun. That He loves and has ordained for us to take holidays, have other interests, great relationships and to enjoy our down time too. To essentially know what and who prospers our soul so that we can live life to the fullest. (John 10:10)
An example of actively seeking to enjoy the life God has blessed us with is how my day panned out. This morning I woke up and wondered what we should do for the day. We’d spent the night away in one of our favourite holiday spots and were planning on heading home this morning. However on waking up I had a feeling Jesus had other ideas so I took a moment to pray and ask His plan and if we should stay another day. Jesus spoke right back to my heart, “Of course. “Of course stay and have a day with your family relaxing by the beach and taking some time out before the busyness of the next few months.” ” Of course… I want you to enjoy your life.”
The simple fact is regardless of where or who we are God desires to fill our lives with good things. Even though that will mean different things for different people it’s still one of Gods promises and in his character that He seeks to satisfy our lives and crown us with his loving kindness and mercy.
The years go by really, really fast and God wants them to be lavishly filled with good things, people and experiences if we will allow Him to lead us. We can and probably will be able to get to our destination and complete our purpose with few breaks and having limited fun, or we can travel through life in peace, joy, fulfillment, Gods presence and having a great time.
Today look for God and what he is doing. Include him in your day and decisions, and seek His wisdom and advice on the best way to live, because as you do he promises to show you how to live freely, lightly and to keep your joy.
“Come to me. Get away with me and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly.” (Matt 11:28-30)
He (God), “Who redeems your life from the pit, Who crowns you [lavishly] with lovingkindness and tender mercy; Who satisfies your years with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the [soaring] eagle.” (Psalm 103:4-5)
Prayer: Lord thank you for fullness of life in you and that you show me how to live freely and lightly today. In Jesus name
