18 Oct – The Real Jesus

Today we celebrated our little grandson Ezekiel’s 1st birthday. He has just started walking and is very busy exploring everything within reach. He is very cute and watching him I was reminded that we can learn alot about Jesus as we examine all He has made.

Jesus is an artist and as with any artist you see His heart through what He creates. Little Ezekiel is one of God’s creations and made in His image. He’s inquisitive, laughs, explores, loves cuddles and wants to know about everything he can touch and see. If he is a reflection of His creators heart then it’s easy to surmise that God is very good. He’s someone you would want to know and experience up close and personal.

Unfortunately religion and incorrect thinking about who Jesus is can hinder us from really knowing Him. Instead we can limit ourselves to only seeing Jesus through the lense of our tradition, systems and the institutions we have built. When perhaps sitting in the sunshine watching a baby toddle from one new exciting find to the next, or marvelling at any of the other amazing things that God has created reveals and helps us to experience Him far more realistically and deeply than anything else.

I encourage you to take the time to ask to get to know the real Jesus and to seek to experience Him in a deeper way for yourself. He is the one who reveals His heart in all that is good around us. In the kaleidoscope of stars in the night sky, the splash of the waves as you swim in the ocean, the beauty of a sunset, the smile and touch of someone you love, or the squishy cuddles of a little person in your life. All point to Jesus and who He really is.

And I continually long to know the wonders of Jesus more fully, (understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely) and to experience the overflowing power of his resurrection working in me.” (Philippians 3:10 Amp/Tpt)

“The heavens declare the glory of God;  the skies proclaim the work of his hands. Day after day they pour forth speech;  night after night they reveal knowledge. They have no speech, they use no words; no sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.” (Psalm 19:1-4 NIV)

Prayer: Lord thank you that you reveal yourself in all that is good around me. Please help me to know and experience you in a deeper way. I want to know the real you. In Jesus name Amen.
