The bible teaches, ”For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.” (Proverbs 23:7), and that “A cheerful heart is good medicine” (17:22). That’s because God knows the importance of focusing and filling our hearts and minds with good news and that which encourages and give us hope.
God wants us to pay attention to those things that are good for where there is good news, there is joy; where there is joy, there is hope, and where there is hope, faith is activated, and then all things become possible.
Good news can also cause concrete, positive changes in our lives by the thoughts we think. Our thoughts change our biochemistry as our hormones, cells, brain circuitry, and even our genetics and are all affected by our thoughts. Scientists are discovering that we can positively ‘rewire our brains’ by resolving to focus on things we appreciate, instead of things we fear or dislike.
With all these positive and beneficial effects let’s decide to focus on and look for the good and those things that generate peace and joy. When we listen to and read the news feeds know what to focus upon and choose to seek out the good news stories and not just the latest threat. When in conversation, listen out for good, not the bad, and when we hear or experience something great then take a moment to share it.
The world is an amazingly wonderful place, and God is all around us in the very air we breathe. He is working, healing, restoring and releasing the miraculous every single day, but if all we primarily only look for and focus upon the bad news, we quite possibly will miss Him working or not believe or recognise His hand right in front of us.
Today look for God in your circumstances and trust that He is working everything for your good, because the world is waiting for us to apply our faith, lean into peace and joy, and to share some good news.
“The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows].” (John 10:10 Amp)
“The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it” (Psalm 24:1)
“Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be apparent to all. The Lord is near. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” (Philippians 4:5)
Prayer: Lord, help me be good news focused instead of bad, and that I would attract and be like a magnet for good news, positivity and the miraculous so that I can share it with others and increase the joy today. In Jesus Name Amen.
