Life has plenty of opportunities to trigger us into having a melt down over circumstances that are beyond our control or just not a good cause for a huge drama.
Today was one of those days when one of our daughters lost something that she really does need. It is inconvenient in its loss and will mean rethinking how she does things for the next few weeks. However in keeping life in perspective this lost item does not signify the end of the world, nor is it something that can’t be rectified…it merely, “is what it is” – inconvenient.
Today in fact posed a great opportunity for us to focus on the good things which are happening in our daughter’s life and to actively choose “not to sweat the small stuff”.
Plus I’ve learnt that the devil waits around for an opportune time to try an trip us up, tempt us to get into fear and just be annoying if we let him. Today with all the amazing blessings that our daughter has being experiencing I reminded her that “God always works all things together for our good” and that if the loss of this particular item is all the devil has got then she shouldn’t give him any room for victory over her or even give it much thought. Instead find a solution and move on. (Romans 8:28)
Today I encourage you to keep perspective. Most of what we stress about over a day or even a week we won’t even remember in a few years time. So make a quality decision for the sake of your peace and happiness and “don’t sweat the small stuff”. Instead focus on and talk about what God is doing and if you can, have a chuckle at your adversaries and any drama the devil might be trying to niggle at you with, because the “joy of the Lord is your strength and when we praise God He silences our enemies, makes our crooked places straight and we are able to see more clearly the light to which He has provided for our path. (Nehemiah 8:10; Psalm 8:2; Isaiah 45:2-7; Psalm 119:105)
Prayer: Lord thank you that you have everything in your control and that even when we face difficulties you promise that you will work all things together for my good. I choose to focus on you today and trust that everything will be just fine. In Jesus name amen.
