In a sense we are all longing for heaven and for peace, safety, joy, beauty and love. We want to experience “heaven on earth”.
However when Adam and Eve messed up mankind lost the ability to move in the realms of the spirit– back and forth between heaven and earth. We couldn’t function in that heavenly realm any longer because of the divide between mankind and God, leaving mankind stuck on earth yet longing for heaven.
Then Jesus came and He became the door or gateway to heaven, whilst restoring and enabling us to experience heavenly realms and relationship with God. Because of Him we can come boldly to heaven’s door and enter in. (Hebrews 4:16)
Yet religion and man’s traditions and mindsets have made death the entrance point for heaven. In a sense we have made death our saviour instead of Jesus. It’s death that saves us from all the pain and sorrow, and many believe that it is only when we die that we can enter our rest and enjoy Heaven.
But actually Jesus is our saviour and He is the entrance point to heaven and the moment we ask Him into our lives our old life passes away and we are joined to Jesus and heaven.
“For you died and your life is hidden with Christ in God. (Colossians 3:3)
“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above, not on the earth.” (Col 3:1-2)
We are in Jesus, and He is in us. “In Him we live and move and have our being”. (Acts 17:28) He is the door to heaven, and we can know heaven and find all we need in Him.
John 10:9 “I am the door, If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.”
Today practice just enjoying Jesus and being IN Him. Fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith. (Heb 12:2) Focus on His love, His kindness and His deep affection for you and allow Him to show you heaven now.
Prayer: Lord please help me to see how I am connected to you and to heaven now. That death isn’t the doorway to experiencing heavenly realms, you are. I want to experience Heaven today. In Jesus Name Amen.
