29 Sept – God Is Speaking – Are You Listening?

God wants to speak to you whether you know Him already or have never even had a conversation.

The bible says, “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD”. (Jeremiah 29:12-13)

God is speaking but are you listening, because there are many other “voices” also talking that you can find yourself listening to every day too. There are the voices of your emotions, your past, the media, society, the pressure of the voices of your family and friends, and anyone else who has something to say.

These voices can get very loud and rather than stopping to seek God’s voice, you can easily end up listening to everyone else instead.

Sometimes you may desire to follow a particular path, wanting other’s to agree with you that it’s the right course of action to take. You go from person to person looking for what you want to be told to confirm your decision. You seek people’s voice and words of wisdom and encouragement more often than God’s.

However, suppose you choose to seek after and to hear what God has to say about his plans for you to live your best possible life. In that case, it will mean seeking Him first and then watching that your heart is right and uncluttered with your motives, issues, un-forgiveness, anger or fears so that you don’t deceive yourself into hearing, doing and acting outside of what is God’s best for you.

Your heart is like a receiver, so it’s important to take care of what is going on in our inner world so the message and direction that God wants to communicate can be received clearly. He will speak but our hearts can miss receiving his words clearly, or we can allow them to fall away because we have hardened or dulled our sensitivity to His voice.  (Matthew 13:18)

The bible encourages us to, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”(Proverbs 4:23)

God speaks in many ways. He speaks through a word or specific instruction from the bible, miracles and supernatural means, through our circumstances, experiences, trials, visions, dreams and trances. He communicates by impacting our thoughts with a sentence or just a single word that we may not even understand at the time. He speaks to us by impressions, which often communicate knowledge through preachers, teachers, prophets, and others.

Gods speaking, but do we have hearts to hear Him and listen to what He is saying?

I encourage you take time to seek and listen to God . Write down what you are “hearing” and seeing.

I practice in the little things as well as the more important issues of life. When you choose to listen to God speaking actively, you will suddenly realise just how much He has been trying to communicate with you.

Today ask God to speak to you in whatever way He wants to. He desires to be part of your everyday world and to help, guide, and protect you so that you can live your best life.

I can guarantee that you will hear God speaking if you take the time to seek Him and His wisdom. Maybe then the question is, “What will you do when you hear Him speak”?

Prayer: Lord, please grant me ears to hear and eyes to see the things you want to reveal to me. Forgive me when I have pushed you aside or have listened to other voices rather than yours. I don’t want to do that anymore, so speak, Lord, for I am listening. In Jesus Name. Amen.
