3 Nov – How To Value The People In Your World

I think God smiles when we value relationships and seek to bless others by opening the doors to our life, our homes and family. God loves family, and He has a big one that we are all invited into. He knows that being in close relationships makes us bigger and better people.

When we are around other’s, whether a friend, blood relative or someone you now call “family” we can often be confronted with our quirks and perhaps some issues we might need to address. But that’s usually how God grows us.

It’s easy to get along with people when it’s just you and how you like things! But the bible says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”. (Proverbs 27:17)

Therefore it’s wise to seek God’s heart regarding the relationships you have and to value the ones He lets you know He has ordained. Even those who stretch us or are different in their upbringing and thinking may very well be the people who are the making of us.

Today, give thanks for the people in your world. God has brought them into your life for a reason; to love, support and help you and vice versa.

Here are some ideas on how to value your time together:

  1. Make a plan to set aside time to spend together regularly. If you don’t look for opportunities, the busyness of life will no doubt swallow the time up, so make an effort to make it happen.

  2. Make traditions – they can be a good thing.

  3. Value those in your world – time goes quickly, and these moments are precious. If you haven’t taken the opportunity in the past, decide to start now.

  4. Forgive – let grudges go and look to the future. Ask God to help you know what and how to move past hurts so that you can build something new.

  5. Look at what you do have already, and not only at others faults. People are flawed, and yes, fickle at times. Choose to focus on the positives and what you can relate to. Sometimes what holds us together maybe just a thread, but hold onto that thread.

Don’t look back and think, “I wish I had done that or made more time with the people in my world”. Start today and make the next chapter of your story together how you’d like it to read.

Prayer: Lord, I thank you for the people in my world. I ask that you help me appreciate the moments we have together and to look for ways to bless them today. In Jesus name amen
