4 Oct – How to Transition

Transition by definition is the process of changing from one state or condition to another. It is often uncomfortable and we can feel lost when faced with such seasons in life. That’s because transition involves growth and adjustments for us to move forward.

Even when something you have been hoping and praying for starts to happen, such as stepping into a new role or career path, starting or committing to a relationship, getting married, traveling, having children, or embarking on a course of study, the necessary changes to take you to the next phase of your life can be challenging. They force you from the familiar into the unknown and if you’re not being self-aware you can start to be resistant about what you are going through and question whether you even want to “go there”.

Today if you are facing, or are in the midst of transition take some time to examine your concerns and talk to God about them.

Determine if your hesitation stems from sentimentality about the past, the fear of making a mistake or the uncertainty of what’s going to happen next which is leading you to want to stay in your comfort zone rather than transition to the next stage of your life.

It’s very easy to settle in yesterday’s familiar instead of taking the steps into what God has for you next. But it’s important you push yourself a little so that you don’t remain in things that are no longer beneficial for you or what God is currently wanting to release in your life.

It’s helpful to also remember that God knows the end from the beginning and everything in between, and only wants the best for you. If He changes or adjusts your circumstances it’s so He can get something great to you. So instead of fighting transition choose to look at the positives, to embrace the process, choose to move forward and keep going until you are on steadier ground

Look for the opportunities in the changes you are facing, knowing that when you put God in charge of the steps you take He will safely guide you through every transition and adjustment you’ll ever have to go through, whilst getting you securely to the blessings on the other side.

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”. (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:2)

“See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:19)

Prayer: Lord please help me to trust you with every season of my life and the inevitable transitions. I want to keep growing and moving forward so please help me to look for the positives and to keep going even when it gets hard or I feel out of my comfort zone. In Jesus name Amen
