There will always be voices speaking and trying to shape our identity – the question is, whose voice are we listening to? What is shaping our thoughts about our life, and who are we listening to regarding our future and how much we are loved and valued?
Recently I felt Jesus speak to me and say, “my people must get free of this tendency to care about what others think and choosing to listen to others voice more than His”.
When we understand who and how God has formed and created us and the plans He has for our lives, the more focused on the positives and what matters, we will be. A key in doing that is to spend time in God’s presence and read His words in the bible, telling of how He feels about us.
God’s speaks hope, love and the future we have in Him and becoming all we were created to be. He continually encourages us to have an overcomer mentality.
As we see ourselves succeeding, we will gravitate towards success and positivity, which as a by product causes us to be at peace and at ease with people. We then no longer strive to exert our prominence, worth, or value to validate and prove ourselves.
Today take a few moments to ascertain whose voice you are listening to and how much you may have been limited by your concern of what others think.
Jesus speaks in many ways; through the bible, through miracles, supernatural means, natural means, our circumstances, through our experiences, trials, visions, dreams, trances, by impacting our mind with a part of a sentence or just a single word that we may not even understand at the time.
Write what you are “hearing” and seeing down. I practice listening in the little things as well as the more important issues of life.
When you choose to listen to Jesus speaking actively, you will suddenly realise just how much He has been wanting to talk with you and also how different His words can be to what others around you are saying.
Listen up to Jesus today because He wants to talk with you!
The bible says, “Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you search for me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the LORD”. (Jeremiah 29:12-13)
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10)
“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)
Prayer: Lord, please help me to grow to listen to your voice and what you say and think more than anyone else. In Jesus name Amen.
