I’ve set a goal to strengthen and tone up more, which means lifting weights. I started with light ones which my exercise physiologist daughter when she saw them just laughed at and then promptly handed me some larger, heavier ones. With Gods help and being consistent each week it’s getting easier to lift those weights and the heaviness has continued to increase as I’ve grown stronger.
My lifting weights has also had a flow on effect into other areas of my life, such as when my horse riding coach remarked on how confidently I was riding and how strong I looked. I told her I was lifting weights and she said, “you can tell”. Presumably pumping those weights is a good thing in areas of my everyday life I didn’t even think would be impacted.
But thinking about it all I realised that consistently growing stronger in one area of our life is always going to have an impact elsewhere. Whether it’s a fitness goal and the result being that you become stronger and more confident, or its gaining knowledge and understanding in a subject, spending time growing your spiritual life, learning a new skill, dealing with an issue or choosing to step out of our comfort zone. Everything we think, act upon and believe flows into other areas of our lives. Everything is connected and when the choices we make are healthy ones we are going to see positive results in areas that perhaps we wouldn’t have expected to or thought of.
It might take some time to see results or the effect of our choices, but much like my weight lifting has made me both stronger and more confident in other areas, when we are consistent and seek to grow the effects will be seen and felt other places in our lives too.
Today be encouraged that God sees you and all that you do and are seeking to become. He promises to bless the work of our hands, and is faithful to fulfill his promises and to perfect all that concerns us. We live by Gods strength, using what he has placed in our hands to grow and develop, knowing everything we are and do will have an impact and benefit ours and others lives too.
“Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity..” (Ephesians 5:15-16)
“Whoever pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.” (Prov 21:21)
“You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (Matt 3:13-16)
Prayer: Lord please help me to be consistent and to keep moving forward and using what you have given me. I’m trusting you to help me grow and develop so that my life and everything I am and do has an impact. That I continue to develop in every area of my life. In Jesus name Amen
