6 Oct – It’s a GOOD day!

it a good day

I woke up one day this week and instantly started to feel anxious. I know full well that if I’m not careful I can overthink things and begin to expect the negative which leads to me getting into fear and worry. However in the middle of my early morning musings I heard the Lord say very clearly in my heart, “It’s a good day today!” These words on reflection made me realise I hadn’t been expecting it to be a good day at all and instead was slipping into a mindset of waiting for something challenging or difficult to happen.

It is very easy when we are busy, feeling rushed, surrounded by noise, people, challenges and even other’s problems to get into the mindset and belief that life can mostly just be about surviving, managing the best we can and soldiering through. Sometimes that’s because of our past experiences and how we have processed them, our upbringing and what’s been modelled to us, or our own hurts, fears and disappointments.

However God is actually in the business of calling those things that are not as though they are. He will speak what is on his heart and plan for our lives regardless of what it may or may not look like. That indeed every day, including today is a good day because firstly He made it and therefore because He is good, the day has to have goodness in it, that His mercies to us are new every morning, and that even where things are lifeless and look impossible He is the God who speaks life into the darkness and goodness and fruitfulness where previously there was nothing. Because of this He actually wants us to rejoice in every day expecting good things to happen and thanking Him for them in advance because they are on the way.

“This is from the LORD, and it is marvelous in our eyes. This is the day that the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it”. (Psalm 118:23-24 Berean Bible)

If need be God declares He will even override the natural order of things to fulfil His promises to us; like Jesus enabling Peter to walk on water, quieting the storm to save His friends, turning water into wine to provide at a wedding banquet, making a metal axe head float to ensure a man stayed out of debt, and making the widows oil keep flowing until she had enough containers full to sell so as to keep her family together. (Matt 14:22-23; Mark 4:35-41; John 2:1-11; 2 Kings 6:1-7; 2 Kings 4)

What God wants us to do is simply to agree with what He says about the day and to not fall into the habit of looking at our circumstances in light of what we can see with our natural eyes. Our expectation for the day is like a connection point and if we send out a “this is a good day” signal then that is what we are going to attract. Plus we will be on the lookout for the good and God sent opportunities and blessings. When we do that it changes any negative mindsets we may have back to positivity and a belief that God is for us, nothing can separate us from His love and purposes for our lives, that no weapon formed against us shall prosper, that all things are possible to them that believe, and that wherever we go God is ahead of us leading and guiding our steps.

I encourage you today to start declaring, “today is a good day”, because God made it, He is good all the time, and is continually working everything out for our good. What He has said He is faithful and well able to do. (Jeremiah 29:11; Romans 8:28)

“God is not a man, that He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?” (Numbers 23:19 NIV)

Jehovah Himself will watch over you; He’s always at your side to shelter you safely in his presence. He will keep you from every form of evil or calamity as he continually watches over you. You will be guarded by God himself. You will be safe when you leave your home and safely you will return.  He will protect you now, and he’ll protect you forevermore!” (Psalm 121:7-8 TPT)

Prayer: Lord thankyou that “today is a good day, actually it’s a great day”. I expect good things to happen today, for doors to open that no man can shut, that I walk in favour, clarity, wisdom and make the most of every opportunity you bring my way. I am blessed because that’s what you say I am. In Jesus name Amen.
