8 Oct - “How to Find Peace That Stays - Learning to Walk Light Every Day”

We’ve talked about a lot over the past few weeks about the hurry and stress that can steal our peace; the waves that knock us off balance, and the weights that hold us back. But the truth is, peace was never meant to be a once-in-a-while moment. It’s meant to move with us.

I believe that’s what walking with Jesus looks like - it's peace in motion.

I was reminded about how peace works again this morning, as I drove up into the hills in the early morning to go riding. Everything felt still, the air was cool, the light was soft, and there was this quiet sense of calm that wrapped around everything. That’s one picture of what peace looks like in motion - not loud, not dramatic, but steady and the whole atmosphere around me felt alive. But peace like that also isn't something you chase after; it’s something you carry within you.

Jesus said, “My peace I give to you.” (John 14:27 NIV)I He gave it to us, that means we can receive, or we already have a peace that He's given us. But let's face it, sometimes we misplace it. We rush, we stress, we compare, and somewhere along the way - we can drop our peace.

So if you find yourself anxious or heavy, I encourage you to ask: Where did I lose my peace? And then go back, drop off the weights or distractions that you're carrying instead and pick up your peace again.

God's word encourages us to: Guard our hearts. Guard our minds. Guard our peace. Because it’s not just meant to keep us calm - it’s meant to keep us moving in the right direction, living a life that is free and light.

Plus when you live at Jesus' pace and in the peace He gives , you start to notice the small things again - the morning light, a deep breath, the quiet strength that comes when you pause and say, “Jesus, thank you that your'e here with me".  That’s how peace takes root. Not because life necessarily always gets easier, but because you’ve learned who sets the rhythm and who is with you.

“My peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.” (John 14:27 NIV)

“Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10 NIV)

✨ Action Step: Find a quiet moment today - even just five minutes. Breathe, be still, and checkin in with Jesus and where your peace is at? Ask Jesus, "Have I dropped my peace and if so, where did I lose it, and please help me pick it up again?”

💭 Think and Say: “Peace goes with me. I don’t chase calm - I carry it.”

📖 Verse: “My peace I give you… Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” (John 14:27 NIV)

🙏 Prayer Jesus, thank You for giving me peace that stays. Please help me to guard my heart and thoughts today so that I can carry peace into every moment and decision. If I lose it, please remind me to come back to You and pick it up again. Let Your peace lead me, steady me, and fill me as I walk with You today. In Jesus’ name Amen.
