8 Sept – How To Be More Peaceful

I took some time to sit quietly today; no agenda’s or demands, just quiet; and as I did I heard Jesus speak to my heart.

Instead of being overwhelmed by all the problems and challenges in the world right now I was reminded that Jesus cares infinitely about every detail of our lives and, “Will keep in perfect peace, those whose minds are stayed on Him. That, “He is a God who does what is right, and smooths out the path ahead of us.” (Isaiah 26:3,6)

What you focus on is what you will think about, believe, act upon and expect to happen. Which is why it’s so important to check in on what you have been looking at and listening to. Are they thoughts of hope or thoughts of fear, negativity and disaster?

When you fix your focus on Jesus, you choose to centre your thoughts on His goodness, on what He says, on who He is and on His promises.

When you do that, it will help you to activate your faith to believe God to smooth out any crooked places in your life…..” He smooths out the path ahead of us”. (Isaiah 26:6)

The Bible says, “Finally, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things..and the God of peace will be with you. (Philippians 4: 8-9)

If you have been struggling with anxiety or want to be more peaceful I encourage you to take a few minutes regularly throughout the day with Jesus and to read His words in the Bible. Put those promises that especially speak to you where you can see them as a reminder of what is true throughout the day.  For “He will keep us in perfect peace, when our minds are fixed on Him.”

Jesus said, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples, and you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (John 8:31-32)

His peace in your life has the power to bring change to your circumstances and shift atmospheres all around you. His peace silenced the storm, calmed the terrified Israelites as He parted the Red Sea, caused David to be able to run into battle with an assurance that God was with him and protected Daniel in the lion’s den.

No matter what the world is yelling or how anxious you may be feeling today, Jesus has the power to bring quiet to any storm. Give Him your worries in exchange for His peace, and then seek to be an instrument of peace wherever you go today…..Shalom

So let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” (Colossians 3:15)

“Give all your worries and cares to God for he cares about you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

And he (Jesus) arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” (Mark 4:39)

“The Lord will fight for you, and you will hold your peace.” (Exodus 14:14)

Prayer: Lord, thank you that I can find peace in you and that you make my path smooth before me today. In Jesus Name Amen.
