9 Oct – Propelled Forward

Sometimes, as I’m running I will strike a strong headwind making everything more challenging as it increases the energy output required to get me to where I am going.

However, headwinds do have their benefits if we don’t give in to them, because eventually as you turn a corner you are no longer facing the wind. Instead, it becomes a tailwind, propelling you forward to your destination.

The same can be said for those seasons in our life when we’re facing a struggle or pressure, much like a “headwind”. Sometimes the resistance of the wind of our circumstances is so strong we can feel overpowered. But those winds are also where I have discovered Jesus and recognised that, “God’s grace is always more than enough for us, and His power finds its full expression through our weakness.” (2 Corinthians 12:9-11) “When I am weak, He is strong in me”.

If, as on my run, we refuse to give in to the “headwind,” the very things which previously pressured and even appeared as disappointments in our life can end up being the very thing which God uses to propel us forward like a “tailwind”.

Today if you are facing a “headwind” of your own, I encourage you to keep going. Don’t give up, but lean in on Jesus and receive His strength, knowing that the same circumstance in which you feel pressured or discouraged about today may in fact be the thing which God works to release you into your destiny.

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28 NIV)

“Yet even in the midst of all these things, we triumph over them all, for God has made us to be more than conquerors, and his demonstrated love is our glorious victory over everything! So now I live with the confidence that there is nothing in the universe with the power to separate us from God’s love. I’m convinced that his love will triumph over death, life’s troubles,[c] fallen angels, or dark rulers in the heavens. There is nothing in our present or future circumstances that can weaken his love. There is no power above us or beneath us—no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God’s passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!” (Romans 8:37-39 TPT)

Prayer: Lord, thank you that you make everything work out for my good. Today, please help me remember that when I face “headwinds,” to lean into you and keep moving forward until I “turn that corner”. In Jesus name Amen.
